Dr. Grembowski is Professor in the Department of Health Services in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington. He also has appointments in the Department of Sociology (adjunct) and the Department of Oral Health Sciences (joint). He is Affiliate Faculty in the University’s Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology and at Group Health Research Institute. He is past Chair of the School of Public Health’s Faculty Council.

He is Director of the PhD Program in Health Services and the Principle Investigator of the AHRQ/NRSA T32 pre-doctoral training fellowship program. He has taught courses on program evaluation methods for over two decades, and he has published the 2nd edition of his textbook, The Practice of Health Program Evaluation (2016). He also has taught a doctoral-level seminar on the social determinants of population health and health inequalities.

Dr. Grembowski’s research interests are the design and performance of health care systems; prevention; access to health care; the cost, quality, outcomes and equity of care; information systems and technology diffusion; the health care workforce; and the social determinants of health and health inequalities. He was a member of the AHRQ Health Care Quality and Effectiveness Research (HCQER) Study Section for four years.
