Laura Landro spent 35 years at the Wall Street Journal as a reporter  and editor, in recent years covering health and medicine. Her column,  The Informed Patient,  has focused on how consumers can get the best care and avoid harm in the health care system. Since December 2016 she has been a freelance contributor to the paper.  Ms. Landro is also the author of   “Survivor: Taking Control of Your Fight Against Cancer,” a memoir  about her own battle with leukemia that offers a roadmap for patients facing difficult treatment decisions. She is a graduate of Ohio University.
