Making the Most of Research Resources for Health Services Research: HSRProj and HSRR

Free
101

This seminar provides an overview of HSRProj and HSRR and step-by-step instructions on how to best utilize the databases. Examples of analytic products and additional NLM resources will also be highlighted.

Overview

HSRProj (Health Services Research Projects-in-Progress) and HSRR (Health Services and Sciences Research Resources) are two free online resources funded by the National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NLM). The two resources are coordinated by the NLM's National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology (NICHSR) and allow health services researchers to find the most up-to-date information for ongoing health services research (HSR) projects, find collaborators or funders, and review data and compare characteristics across datasets.

HSRProj contains descriptions on more than 12,000 ongoing and recently completed HSR projects funded by federal  and state agencies, foundations, universities, private organizations, and international institutions. Researchers can use this database to find the most up-to-date research projects in the field, find colleagues who may be interested in collaborating, and view funders of current and past HSR projects. HSRR is a searchable database of information about research datasets, instruments/indices and software. Users may review data and compare characteristics across datasets. Examples of HSRR data sources include: clinical records, discharge summaries, claims records, epidemiological surveys, surveys, and registries.

This seminar provides an overview of HSRProj and HSRR and step-by-step instructions on how to best utilize the databases. Examples of analytic products and additional AcademyHealth and NLM resources will also be highlighted. You can find more information on HSRProj and HSRR on our website. If you have questions about the recording or specific questions about the databases, please contact HSRproj staff
