Dr. Maciejewski is a Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine at Duke University and a Research Career Scientist in the Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care at the Durham VA Medical Center. He also holds Adjunct Professor appointments in the Schools of Public Health and Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Maciejewski has research interests in four areas: 1) evaluation of surgical and behavioral interventions for the management of obesity and cardiometabolic conditions, 2) evaluation of cost-sharing changes on demand for medications and health services, 3) analysis of health care utilization and expenditures in experimental and quasi-experimental studies, and 4) methods for addressing unobserved confounding in observational studies. He has received funding from VA HSR&D, CMS, AHRQ, NIDA and the RWJ Foundation and has published over 170 papers. He was a member of the executive planning committee for the 2012 Annual Research Meeting, panel chair for Care of Chronic and Complex Patients Abstracts for the 2012 meeting, panel chair for Methods Abstracts for the 2015 meeting, and has served on the Methods Council and the HSR Editorial Board since 2016. Dr. Maciejewski received his BSFS from Georgetown University and his PhD from the University of Minnesota.
