AcademyHealth programs are led by our expert staff, supported by funding from a variety of partners, and all aimed at improving health and the health system. An alphabetical list of both past and current activities is below. Efforts include learning, translation and dissemination, technical assistance, professional services, as well as stakeholder engagement and community building.

Special Topic Research Programs

The most effective health care policy is informed by objective, rigorous evidence. For 25 years, AcademyHealth served as the national program office for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization (HCFO) grantmaking initiative and continues to manage special topic solicitations for the Foundation covering a broad array of topics.

The National Interoperability Collaborative is a new initiative designed to increase collaboration among the sectors that impact health and well-being by improving information-sharing, interoperability, and use of technology.

Translation and Dissemination Institute

​AcademyHealth’s Translation and Dissemination Institute helps the field of health services research move its findings more effectively into policy and practice. It undertakes activities that enable research producers to better understand the needs of research users, helps place research in context, and serves as an incubator for new and innovative approaches to moving knowledge into action.
