This project is funded as part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s solicitation, “Engaging Businesses for Health,” which seeks to build the evidence base for private-sector investment to help build a Culture of Health. This study aims to establish a common understanding of how health correlates with economic activity in metropolitan areas across the United States. Researchers will analyze key indicator data and policy initiatives, and will conduct interviews with business representatives to ascertain which drivers have the greatest influence on community health and business outcomes, such as site selection and profitability. Results are intended to help leaders across sectors make more informed decisions regarding targeted investments and interventions. Deliverables will include a project work plan and an annual and final narrative and financial report. The grantee will also produce paper(s) suitable for publication and present findings at national research meetings and to other stakeholder audiences as appropriate, including the business sector and federal and state policymakers, as part of the deliverables for this grant.
