This session presents an overview of conducting HSR with patient registries.  Based on the AHRQ Guide to Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes, the session provides an introduction to the types of registry research and best practice for conducting research with patient registries.

Faculty Bio:  Dr. Richard Gliklich is president of Outcome in Cambridge MA which provides registries, studies and technologies for evaluating real world outcomes.  Dr. Gliklich is also the PI of the Outcome DEcIDE Center under the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Effective Healthcare program and the senior editor of the AHRQ handbook, Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes:  A User's Guide.  Dr. Gliklich is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Medical School, a former Charles A. Dana Scholar in outcomes research, a frequently invited speaker on registries and observational research, director of the annual Post-Approval Summit held at the Harvard Medical School, and an associate professor at Harvard Medical School.
