Overview: Appropriate strategies for assessing nonresponse bias are important to understand in order to help interpret the quality of survey data. While response rates are a standard, reported measure in the literature, authors and funding agencies should regularly report the potential effects of nonresponse bias both before and after survey administration. This webinar will provide a definition of nonresponse bias and its causes, and work through a decision framework that outlines six strategies for assessing nonresponse bias. A description of the advantages and disadvantages of specific strategies for assessing nonresponse will be covered.

The HSR Methods Corner articles aim to improve the practice of health services research by presenting discussions of analytic methods or applications that are often implemented inconsistently across the field. Dr. Halbesleben's article was published in the December issue of HSR.
