Using T-MSIS Data for Medicaid and CHIP Analytics

T-MSIS is a relational database that states use to submit their Medicaid & CHIP data to CMS. While this includes billions of parent and child records, it is not optimized for health services research. In this brief presentation, Kimberly Proctor of CMS highlights how her team repackages the information that states submit into a research-ready format with data on beneficiary eligibility and enrollment, fee-for-service claims and managed care service use and spending data, and managed care plan and provider information.
