AcademyHealth’s Medicaid Medical Director Network (MMDN), in collaboration with Mathematica, provides ongoing support to the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) in quality measurement, data analysis, and quality improvement. This work informs the development and improvement of the Medicaid and CHIP programs in order to enhance the quality of care provided to beneficiaries, support innovation and transformation of care delivery, and assist states to document quality of care delivery and health outcome results among the diverse populations served by these programs. The Medicaid and CHIP Quality Measurement and Improvement Program, led by Mathematica under a contract with CMCS, functions as the engine for innovation, learning, and analytics related to the collection, reporting, and use of Core Set measures to drive improvement in Medicaid and CHIP.

This partnership has evolved to establish the Medicaid and CHIP Quality eXchange (MAC QX). The MAC QX creates a forum for dialogue and support between Medicaid and CHIP state quality teams and CMCS on a range of quality measurement and quality improvement topics. The MAC QX applies multiple approaches to delivering this support, including one-on-one technical assistance; small group and peer-to-peer learning; as well as broader engagement and educational strategies designed to inform states about collecting, reporting, and using the Core Set measures and supporting quality metrics at various levels (e.g., provider, clinic, health plan, state, national). The MAC QX is an innovative program that can address the multiple and varying needs of CMCS and state Medicaid and CHIP agencies.
