A series of issue briefs from AcademyHealth’s Translation and Dissemination Institute explores the experiences of three safety net hospitals in using research and other evidence to help inform innovations in care.
Supported by Kaiser Permanente, the briefs are based on interviews with leadership at three safety net hospital systems across the country: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers in Martinez, California; Grady Health in Atlanta; and The MetroHealth System in Cleveland. Three corresponding briefs provide a glimpse into the opportunities and challenges hospital leaders faced when seeking research and other evidence to help inform new programs or initiatives. A fourth brief in the series examines common experiences across the three systems and provides useful insights for other health care providers, as well as researchers interested in safety net care.
The briefs were authored by Linda Cummings Ph.D., who served as an AcademyHealth Innovator-in-Residence in 2015 and previously held the role of Vice President for Research at America’s Essential Hospitals.
