For more than a year, AcademyHealth has tracked the growing disruption at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Now, researchers across the country are receiving formal notices that continuation funding for previously awarded grants will not be provided.

The affected projects span patient safety, antibiotic stewardship, behavioral health integration, health care costs, workforce development, and other areas critical to improving care. AcademyHealth has already heard from dozens of researchers and institutions impacted by these cancellations and is actively working to understand the full scope of what is happening.

We are collecting information from affected investigators, reviewing notices with legal and policy experts, briefing congressional offices, and working with partners across the research community to ensure policymakers understand the consequences for patients, providers, researchers, and taxpayers.

If your AHRQ grant has been affected, we encourage you to contact us. Please email [email protected]. These reports help us advocate on behalf of our community.

Read our full thoughts in the latest Situation Report, where we break down what we know so far, what questions remain, and how you can help support the nation's health services research infrastructure.
