Recent changes to funding, policy, and data access by the federal government have had significant effects on the field of HSR, our research, and our communities. As the professional home for the people and organizations who produce and use health services research to improve health and health care, AcademyHealth is a trusted source for reliable, innovative, and evidence-based solutions. Amid change and uncertainty, AcademyHealth remains steadfast in our commitment to advocating on behalf of the field and wishes to raise awareness of the impact these changes have made.
We are collecting stories and information to help inform our advocacy and build community. Our objective is to leverage the information we receive from submissions via the Google forms listed on this page to educate others, create tangible connection for the field, and potentially influence federal policy. Request for Information: Federal Data Removal
Since late January, in response to Executive Orders and directives from the Trump Administration, the federal government has removed or modified thousands of webpages and resources containing a wide range of data and information from public health agencies. In response to this, AcademyHealth, along with eight other plaintiffs, has joined a federal lawsuit seeking to restore access to this critical data. Washington State Medical Association et al. v. Kennedy et al. seeks to restore the removed data and establish legal protection against future efforts to suppress public health information. Read more in AcademyHealth's press release.
Our legal case is grounded in clear, documented examples of harm already included in our court filings. However, we continue to collect additional stories to raise awareness of the issue and further support the case as it progresses. If your work has been directly affected by these changes, we invite you to share your experience. We are especially interested in understanding how the loss or alteration of this information has affected not only research, clinical practice, or public health workflows—but also the health, safety, and well-being of the people these efforts are meant to serve.

Tracking Cancelled AHRQ Grants
Recently, federal research grants have been delayed, cancelled, modified, or terminated early. AcademyHealth is collecting information specifically about Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) grants to keep track of funding loss, to advocate on the field’s behalf, and to educate others broadly about the impact of these cancellations. Please submit as much information as you are able and comfortable providing.
