Funder Coffee and Chat with the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute
Attendees of this session heard about the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute's (PCORI) funding priorities and learned what it takes to submit effective research proposals.
Overview
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), one of the key funders of comparative clinical effectiveness research, has championed patient and stakeholder engagement in research and succeeded in changing our collective expectations around including patient voices.
This members-only event helped attendees better understand the funding priorities of PCORI from Executive Director Dr. Nakela Cook. The interactive “coffee and chat” was designed to answer questions related to navigating the PCORI funding cycle for research. Dr. Cook reviewed:
How PCORI is thinking about innovating their application and review process for research funding
What PCORI would like to see more of in the application pool in terms of topics, methods, and more
PCORI’s strategy to further promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the comparative clinical effectiveness research field
How COVID-19 has affected PCORI’s funding for health systems-related studies
