Webinar: Experiences of People with Disabilities in Emergency Departments
This session explored how people with disabilities experienced emergency department care, highlighted key barriers and emerging research insights, and offered actionable recommendations to improve quality and access.
People with disabilities utilized emergency departments (EDs) at disproportionately high rates compared with people without disabilities. This was due, in part, to multiple barriers that hindered access to primary care for people with disabilities, yet little was known about how they experienced care in this essential setting. During this webinar, the panelists discussed emerging themes from their collaborative research on the experiences of people with disabilities in emergency departments and highlighted recommendations for improving the quality of emergency care for people with disabilities.
