Overview
State Behavioral Health Agencies (SBHAs) provide mental health services to over 7.7 million clients at a cost of $44 billion annually. While Medicaid pays for over half of these services, many states pay up to $22 billion through various funding resources such as SAMHSA block grants, state and local government funds, and other non-Medicaid funding mechanisms. This SAMHSA-sponsored webinar features a presentation by Dr. David Mancuso, Director of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ Research and Data Analysis Division, on the importance of integrating information from SBHAs with Medicaid claims data to better understand how to improve the delivery of behavioral health services across various systems. Dr. Mancuso explains his experience with securely linking data and discusses how developing integrated analytic data systems can be used as a highly strategic asset to inform policy and improve service delivery.
The webinar builds upon a SAMHSA-funded collaborative project with AcademyHealth, NRI, and the National Council for Behavioral Health.
