Background


AcademyHealth seeks two Reproductive Health Senior Scholars in Residence to provide thought leadership on reproductive health issues within the health services research (HSR) field and provide guidance to the Research Community on the Equity Impacts of Dobbs (Research Community). This opportunity is designed for a mid-career researcher dedicated to advancing the understanding and addressing the equity impacts of reproductive health policy changes on the U.S. health care system.

We seek Senior Scholar applicants with the following areas of expertise, and/or any additional areas that are not listed that may be relevant to the Research Community:

  • Mid-career academic or community-based researcher who has conducted studies on reproductive health care services
  • Background, expertise, and interest in conducting research on the equity impacts of the evolving reproductive health policy landscape
  • Track record of building successful partnerships with community-based organizations or others representing reproductive health advocates, etc., in conducting equity-centered, policy-relevant research

Scope of Work 


To help build capacity for—and raise visibility of—reproductive health-related research questions, best practices and approaches, methods, and technical considerations, Scholars will:

  • Commit to the position from September 2024 through August 2025
  • Advise on project direction for AcademyHealth’s new Research Community on the Equity Impacts of Dobbs and raise the visibility of reproductive health-related research questions, approaches, community-engaged methods, and technical considerations (approximately 3-5 hours/month)
  • Join monthly meetings with AcademyHealth, the Commonwealth Fund, the Society of Family Planning, convening facilitator, and Advisory Council members to provide project direction on convenings and webinars hosted by the Research Community (approx. 1 hour/month)
  • Attend bimonthly Research Community convenings (approx. 1 hour/month)
  • Write two commentaries/blogs for the AcademyHealth website, individually or in collaboration with other Scholar 
  • Develop at least one report/article to submit to a peer-reviewed journal, individually or in collaboration with other Scholar
