The Advisory Council for the Research Community on the Equity Impacts of Dobbs is a group of experts guiding the direction and activities of the research community. We seek senior and mid-career professionals with experience and expertise in conducting research on the equity impacts of reproductive health policy changes. The Advisory Council plays a pivotal role in ensuring the community's efforts are impactful and relevant. An honorarium of $1,000 will be provided.

Background


We believe that diverse perspectives foster the innovation we need to be successful, and we are committed to building an Advisory Council that encompasses a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We seek Council members who bring any areas of expertise relevant for the Research Community on the Equity Impacts of Dobbs (Research Community), which could include but are not limited to:

  • Expertise in appropriate methodological approaches and best practices including community leadership/engagement for reproductive health-related research
  • Experience anticipating and addressing challenges in using large datasets to answer complex reproductive health-related research questions, particularly in the context of state Medicaid data and state-only funding scenarios
  • Demonstrated experience with navigating IRBs, data privacy concerns, and legal challenges unique to reproductive health-related research
  • Familiarity with communicating research findings with an understanding of journal editors’ priorities for publishing equitable reproductive health-related research

Advisory Council Member Commitments


To help build capacity for—and raise visibility of—reproductive health-related research questions, best practices and approaches, methods, and technical considerations, Advisory Council members will:

  • Commit to the position from September 2024 through September 2025
  • Join monthly meetings with AcademyHealth, the Commonwealth Fund, the Society of Family Planning, Reproductive Health Senior Scholars, meeting facilitator, and fellow Advisory Council members to provide project direction on future convenings and webinars hosted by the Research Community
  • Participate actively in bimonthly Research Community convenings
