One of the unique offerings of the Annual Research Meeting is the opportunity for participants to gather and learn from one another in methods seminars, and adjunct and Interest Group (IG) meetings. These meetings continue to be an excellent outlet for delving into specific areas of interest and study, from child health to disparities, economics to HIT. Don Allensworth-Davies of Boston University, who participated in the Gender and Health IG meeting on Saturday, pointed to the IGs as a natural entry point to AcademyHealth for students and newcomers. "People can feel overwhelmed by the scope of the overall conference. So an Interest Group can become your home at AcademyHealth," said Davies. "You can meet people doing work like yours." Davies also pointed to the many opportunities IGs present for taking a leadership role at AcademyHealth, stating that beyond just exposure to new ideas and feedback from peers, his work with the IG has resulted in being named a theme leader for the next ARM.
