You: An innovative leader in digital health and data science with experience planning, launching, and leading new and existing programs that are consistent with our mission and strategic priorities. You have direct experience with digital health organizations, understand how digital health connects with our work, are self-motivated, collaborative, innovative, with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse workforce (staff, external partners, and stakeholders), anticipate opportunities and challenges, and approach solutions strategically and creatively.

How you’ll contribute: 

In this role, you will help to manage and expand our digital health and innovative initiatives by providing strategic leadership, developing programs, and building key partnerships to further our mission and strategic priorities.  

This position also contributes to other existing AcademyHealth projects on a broad range of policy issues including health care structure and finance, advancing equity, science innovation (including real world evidence), and health systems improvement. 

Program Development & Execution 

  • Lead and expand our digital health and innovation portfolio, including AI in health care.
  • Identify and respond to emerging trends to help grow and inform our contributions, relevance, and impact in the digital health space.
  • Contribute to program planning for the annual Health Datapalooza (HDP) and other program activities and events with a focus on digital health and innovation. 
  • Oversee program/project development, management, budgets, and team coordination to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables
  • Be responsible for advising leadership on a forward-looking basis how the digital health landscape will evolve in the next 2-5 years (including regulation, economics/funding, and what digital health will be capable of impacting in applied health care), so the organization can thrive as the health care ecosystem becomes ever more digitized. 

Leadership & Partnership Development

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, funders, and partners to advance our digital health initiatives, including opportunities for collaboration with public and private sectors across big tech companies and digital health companies just starting out.
  • Represent AcademyHealth at conferences, meetings, and discussions with external partners. 

Organization Strategy

  • Contribute to business development strategies, identifying new opportunities and partnerships. 
  • Work with senior staff to develop and implement strategic initiatives and performance metrics and targets. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in informatics, data science, health policy, public health, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 8+ years of substantive, professional experience in digital health and data science in either the private or public sectors, including start-ups.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the digital health landscape and the intersection of technology and health services research and policy, including the technologic ways digital health works, is paid for, and capable of addressing disparities in access to technology for patients, community-based groups, people with disabilities, and others. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in a working and learning environment. 
  • Extensive and diverse professional network, including senior decision-makers and leaders in relevant fields.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial spirit and track record of building new programs and leading acquisitions of federal and/or foundation grants and contracts.
  • Familiarity with the role of research in evaluating digital health innovations on costs, quality, and outcomes; skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods are a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences. 
  • Experience in engaging with stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector partners. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, fostering collaboration and innovation.

The salary range is $140,000 to $160,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
