Brian Tuohy, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Bioethics at Temple University School of Medicine, where he directs the Master’s in Health Justice and Bioethics program and oversees service learning initiatives. A sociologist by training, his work focuses on immigrant health, carceral systems, oral health disparities, and the ethics of clinical care under structural constraint. He has authored peer-reviewed research on undocumented health access, interpreter services, electronic health records, and the politics of global health narratives. Brian has served as a mentor for medical and graduate students pursuing equity-focused research and is an active member of AcademyHealth. He regularly presents at national conferences and leads interdisciplinary initiatives that explore the intersections of bioethics, policy, and justice. His current projects examine the role of health professionals as structural listeners, and he brings a passion for advancing inclusive, community-informed, and justice-oriented health systems both in the U.S. and globally.
