Carlos A. Larrauri, JD, MPA, APRN, is a dedicated advocate for mental health who has made impactful contributions to research and policy on both national and global stages. Drawing from his lived experience and professional expertise, Mr. Larrauri has been an influential leader in organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), and the Movement for Global Mental Health (MGMH), where he champions the integration of lived experience into mental health research and advocacy.

He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, serving as a Senior Editor for the Michigan Law Review, and completed a Master in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Zuckerman Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Miami and is board-certified as both a family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Mr. Larrauri has previously lectured at the University of Miami and Miami Dade College, sharing his expertise with future healthcare professionals.

Committed to addressing health inequities faced by individuals with mental illness, Mr. Larrauri’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as World Psychiatry, Schizophrenia Bulletin, Psychiatric Services, and Early Intervention in Psychiatry. His work bridges advocacy and research, focusing on mental health policy and schizophrenia, as he collaborates on studies aimed at advancing knowledge and developing practical solutions for those affected by mental illness.
