Chiemeka Njoku is a first-generation MD/MPH student at the Emory School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health. Prior to her graduate training, she spent two years as a community health educator in rural Cameroon, where she developed a strong commitment to community-engaged work and a critical perspective on ethics in global health.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chiemeka worked in the global health supply chain sector, supporting the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health in expanding access to vaccines and essential medications. Her current research focuses on identifying key factors influencing surgical care delays among Black breast cancer patients in Georgia.
Chiemeka plans to pursue a residency in general surgery and build a career as a global surgeon and public health practitioner, working to advance equitable access to care at a systems level. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Government from Dartmouth College.
