Colleen Marfione serves as Director of Development at AcademyHealth, where she leads efforts to advance philanthropic support to strengthen the organization’s mission to improve health and the performance of the health system through evidence and collaboration.
With nearly 20 years of experience in major gift fundraising, annual giving, corporate relations, and strategic campaigns, Colleen brings a proven track record of building and growing sustainable development programs. She is passionate about connecting donors’ philanthropic goals with AcademyHealth’s mission to champion the use of evidence in health care to improve health outcomes for all.
Before joining AcademyHealth, Colleen served as Associate Director of Philanthropy at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, where she exceeded annual fundraising goals and secured six-figure gifts to advance clinical innovation and patient care. Her prior experience includes leadership roles with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Cradles to Crayons, and the Alzheimer’s Association, where she led initiatives that increased revenue, strengthened donor relationships, and expanded community engagement.
Colleen is known for her strategic thinking, creativity, and ability to inspire collaboration among donors, staff, and volunteer leaders. She holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy from Bay Path University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
