Dr. Dora Anne Mills is a public health physician, pediatrician, and medical epidemiologist, who serves as the Senior Advisor for Public Health at MaineHealth, a 10-hospital health system serving mostly rural Maine and eastern New Hampshire. Her work focuses on the integration of health care and public health, including addressing rural public health needs through rural nonprofit health care. She is from rural Maine, currently lives there part time, and practiced medicine in her hometown as well as in rural Tanzania for several years before serving as Maine’s State Health Officer for 15 years (1996 – 2011) and as the State Epidemiologist during part of that time. Prior to serving as an executive with MaineHealth in 2018, she led clinical interprofessional education and public health programs at the University of New England. She has degrees from Bowdoin College, UVM Larner College of Medicine, Harvard Chan School of Public Health, and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
