Elham Mahmoudi, PhD, is a health economist, mixed methods researcher, and research assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Prior to serving in the Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Mahmoudi served in the U-M Department of Surgery (2014-2017). Dr. Mahmoudi was previously a postdoctoral research fellow (2012-2014) in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, at the University of Michigan. Dr. Mahmoudi earned her PhD from Wayne State University, in Economics in August 2012. During her doctoral work, she gained extensive experience working with large datasets. During her fellowship, she has gained further experience in grantsmanship and multidisciplinary, collaborative research. Most of her work to date has been devoted to determining the underlying factors associated with racial/ethnic disparities in healthcare.
