Elinore Kaufman, M.D., M.S.H.P. is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, and she serves as Director of Research for the division. Dr. Kaufman is also the medical director for the Penn Trauma Violence Recovery Program, a hospital-based violence intervention program. Her research focuses on reducing the harm from injury and violence and on making the most of acute care encounters to advance health and justice. Dr. Kaufman has used quantitative, qualitative, and geospatial methods to evaluate the impact of public policy, trauma systems, and innovations in trauma care on holistic outcomes after injury. She holds an MD from Harvard Medical School, and an MSHP from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her general surgery residency at Weill Cornell and her fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Surgery at Penn.
