Emma Keer is a medical student at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Class of 2027. She earned her B.S. in Movement Science with a minor in Gender and Health from the University of Michigan, graduating with University Honors and recognition as a James B. Angell Scholar.
Emma began her research career as a clinical research coordinator at Michigan Medicine and has continued this work in medical school. Her projects have focused on postpartum Medicaid access, opioid use in pregnancy, and rural reproductive care. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as the American Journal of Perinatology and Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic & Neonatal Nursing, and has presented abstracts at national meetings including ACOG and AcademyHealth, where she was awarded Best Student Poster in 2025. In addition to her academic and research work, Emma is actively involved in medical education and advocacy through leadership in student organizations focused on OBGYN, substance use care, and public health outreach. She hopes to continue combining clinical care with impactful research to improve outcomes for birthing people and underserved communities.
