Dr. Martsolf is a nursing health services researcher and public policy expert. He is currently a Professor and UPMC Health Systems Chair in Nursing Science at University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and a Policy Researcher at the RAND Corporation. Although his research focuses on a wide variety of policy issues, he has a particular research interest in primary care payment and innovation as well as educational, organization, and regulatory issues related to advanced practice nursing. He has received funding to study these and related topics from a variety of federal, state, and foundation funders. Dr. Martsolf holds a PhD from Penn State University in Health Policy and Administration, master’s degree in public health from Tulane University, and joint bachelor’s degrees in nursing and economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
