Hyesung (pronounced "Hay-Sung"), or "Hace'", is an interdisciplinary health economist and healthcare management scholar. He is currently an AHRQ T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at the Brown University School of Public Health, where he works primarily within the Center for Advancing Health Policy through Research (CAHPR). His research focuses on horizontal and vertical consolidation in healthcare markets and its implications for underserved patient populations, particularly those covered by Medicaid. Before pursuing a career in academic research and teaching, Hyesung worked at the MITRE Corporation, the Shared Savings Program at the Center for Medicare, Lawndale Christian Health Center, and Seoul National University in South Korea as a US Fulbright Research Grantee. Each step in his career has been inspired by a deepening commitment to improving equity, quality, and access in the U.S. healthcare system.
