Dr. Irene Mukui is a physician, global health practitioner, implementation science researcher with over 20 years of experience leading healthcare delivery, systems strengthening, and policy implementation in Kenya and globally. She held leadership positions within Kenya's Ministry of Health, where she led national HIV treatment and HIV prevention programs, and was part of universal health coverage secretariat.
She has served in leadership roles with Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, was Co-chair of the WHO HIV Drug Resistance Network Steering Group, serves on the Global Fund Technical Review Panel, the Kenya HIV Tribunal, and the editorial board of BMC Health Services Research. Her work focuses on implementation science, health services research, and translating evidence into policies and programs that improve health outcomes. She is a PhD Candidate in Global Health (Implementation Science and Health Metrics) at the University of Washington, where her research advances strategies to strengthen healthcare delivery and performance.
