Jamaica Sowell is the Director of Programs and Policy at Roots Community Health and a public health and social change advocate dedicated to advancing community-driven systems change, health equity, and policy impact. A public health leader with 30 years of experience advancing community health, policy, and cross-sector partnerships, she brings expertise in program strategy, grant and contract compliance, and leading equity-centered initiatives across healthcare and community systems. Previously serving as Roots' Director of Governmental and Community Affairs, Jamaica works at the intersection of policy, partnership development, and program
design. She is recognized for building collaborative relationships, influencing policy, and implementing population-level interventions that address structural inequities. Her leadership focuses on translating community priorities into sustainable, equitable outcomes that strengthen community health and well-being.
