Jamaica Sowell, B.S.P.H., is a public health and social change leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing health equity through community engagement, program development, policy advocacy, and systems change.
As Director of Programs & Policy at Roots Community Health, she specializes in translating community voice into impactful programs, policies, and partnerships that address the structural drivers of health. Jamaica earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from National University and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at Chamberlain University. She is passionate about fostering authentic community engagement, building strategic collaborations, and developing equitable solutions that improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. Her work is grounded in the belief that lasting change occurs when communities are empowered to shape the decisions that affect their lives.
