A Doctor of Public Health candidate at Tulane University, Jamie Newman’s career specializes in health systems leadership, patient experience, and applied public health practice. She brings more than two decades of federal, clinical, and academic experience, including senior leadership roles within the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System, where she oversaw patient experience, clinical operations, strategic planning, and emergency response initiatives. Her portfolio includes directing utilization management for a 503 bed tertiary care facility, leading COVID 19 incident command staffing operations, and advancing system wide performance and quality improvement efforts.


Jamie currently serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Health Care Management at California State University, Long Beach, where she has developed interdisciplinary curricula and innovative assessment methods for courses in population health, evaluation, long-term care, and patient safety. Her academic and professional interests focus on advancing trauma-informed systems, promoting health equity, and translating evidence into effective practice. She is also recognized for leading workshops and keynote sessions as a public speaker and for making practical contributions to global health initiatives.
