Jennifer A. Werthman, PhD, MS, MBA, RN, NE-BC, CNE is an Assistant Professor and Population Health and Transitional Care Pathway Director at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Her scholarship focuses on improving health outcomes through health services research, quality improvement, and population health. Drawing on a background that spans nursing practice, healthcare operations, and organizational leadership, her work examines how healthcare systems can better support patients and the workforce through evidence-based innovations in care delivery, workforce well-being, and health system design.
Dr. Werthman’s research has been disseminated through national and international conferences, and appears in journals focused on nursing practice, healthcare quality, and workforce outcomes. Current scholarship emphasizes translating evidence into sustainable system-level improvements that strengthen healthcare delivery, advance nurse well-being, and improve population outcomes. She is committed to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring the next generation of nurse researchers dedicated to advancing health services research.
