John O’Malley is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan Medical School program in Health Infrastructures & Learnings Systems, developing periodontal disease phenotyping algorithms to better identify patient oral health status for quality and research. He is also the Manager of Data Science at CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, part of a decade-long career in dental public health research working with groups such as Delta Dental of Michigan, Delta Dental of Illinois, the Association of State & Territorial Dental Directors, and state primary care associations. John is an Eagle Scout and served in the U.S. Peace Corps twice, in Tonga and Liberia, teaching community health and high school science. John gets abroad as much as he can and loves hearing travel stories over cocktails.
