Dr. Joshua Lee joined Banner Health as the Physician Executive for Banner University Medicine in Tucson in September 2019. As the physician partner to the hospital CEO as well as the to the COO of the Banner University Medical Group-Tucson, Dr. Lee oversees a broad spectrum of clinical care across the continuum in the area. Before Banner, Dr. Lee joined Loyola University Health System as the Chief Health Information Officer in January 2016 through August 2019. He oversaw all informatics activities and a coordinated educational and research efforts with the Stritch School of Medicine of the Loyola University of Chicago. In May of 2017, he was also appointed to the role of Chief Medical Officer for Loyola University Medical Center. In that role, he lead the physician operations team and oversaw inpatient and ambulatory quality and safety, patient throughput, and patient access, along with his existing portfolio in clinical informatics. In his partnership with the School of Medicine he fostered the launch of CHOIR (the Center for Healthcare Outcomes and Informatics Research).
Prior to Loyola, Dr. Lee served as Chief Information Officer for Keck Medicine of USC from 2012-2016. He served as the associate director for informatics for the Southern California-Clinical Translational Science Institute. At USC, he was responsible for the enterprise wide deployment of Cerner Millennium for clinical care across the continuum and patient access. He also served as the Medical Director of the USC CARE Medical Group. From 2003-2012, he was the Chief Medical Information Officer at UC San Diego Health System. There, he was responsible for the enterprise wide deployment of a continuum of care health record (Epic Hyperspace) and participated in the attainment of HIMSS analytics Stage 7 for the health system.
Dr. Lee earned his MD degree at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
