Dr. Bisson joined UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2007 and has been Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University at Buffalo since 2013. He serves as Medical Director for both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, team orthopedist for Buffalo State College, and Associate Dean for Clinical Transformation at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He has written emergency action plans for over two decades for two professional sports teams and was an on-field first responder to three life- and limb-threatening events that have garnered international attention (Kevin Everett, Richard Zednik and Damar Hamlin). Since Hamlin’s save in January 2023, he has developed and led a CPR/AED outreach and education program focused on underserved communities, training over 44,000 individuals in hands-only CPR to date. He played a leadership role in Erie County (New York) becoming a HeartSafe Community and serves as the inaugural president of Buffalo’s chapter of the American Heart Association.
