Maayra Butt is a second-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She obtained her bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s in biomedical sciences from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She currently serves as a student representative for the Nevada Psychological Association and the APA Society of Clinical Geropsychology. She is a graduate research assistant in the UNLV TREATment Lab, focusing on mental health services research to improve access to evidence-based care and behaviorally based psychotherapies for older adults. As part of her thesis, she is providing educational talks about mental health and aging to older adults in the community and conducting focus groups with older adults from historically underrepresented backgrounds to identify barriers and facilitators to equitable mental health research participation.
