Maggie Root PhD(c), MSN, RN, CPNP-AC, CHPPN is an emerging nurse researcher who studies how pediatric palliative care teams add value to children’s hospitals. She is currently a PhD candidate at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Maggie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marymount University in 2010 and her Master of Science in Nursing with a minor in palliative care in 2015 from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Certified Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse. Maggie was also co-editor of the textbook Core Curriculum for the Hospice and Palliative APRN. She previously served as co-chair of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Pediatric Special Interest Group. Maggie has presented at national conferences on the state of pediatric palliative care research and on the role of the advanced practice nurse in palliative care.
