Dr. Marianne Shaughnessy is the Director for Policy, Practice and Population Health Integration within the Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating activities with other VHA program offices to support improvements in care for Veterans facing the challenges of aging, disability, or serious illness in all care settings regardless of age. She has worked in the VA since 1999.  Dr. Shaughnessy has served in key national leadership positions including the President of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association and Chair of the Content Expert Panel for development of the first certification examination for Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioners offered through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her faculty roles have included appointments at the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of nursing and in the Schools of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
