Michael Caniglia, Ph.D., M.P.A., is a postdoctoral fellow in the Patient-Centered Pediatric Research Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he works with Laura Chavez, Ph.D., M.P.H., and Deena Chisolm, Ph.D. Caniglia uses quantitative methods to examine rural-urban disparities and the health consequences of economic disadvantage during childhood and adolescence. His research also investigates the associations between medical financial burden and later risks of health-related social needs and psychological stress. His published work has appeared in Child Abuse and Neglect, Social Science and Medicine – Mental Health, and Rural Sociology. Caniglia earned a PhD in sociology and demography from Penn State, a master of public affairs from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Bowling Green State University.
