Nate Milam II (he/him) is a rare disease advocate and digital creative dedicated to advancing health equity and representation for historically marginalized communities. Misdiagnosed with Crohn’s disease as a child and later correctly diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), Nate underwent intensive treatment including a life-saving bone marrow transplant. His lived experience fuels his mission to transform patient stories into platforms for systemic change.
He is the Founder and CEO of Stripes of Solidarity (SOS), an intersectional advocacy initiative amplifying underrepresented voices through education, policy, and creative storytelling. Nate also serves as Marketing & Events Coordinator intern for Beyond the Game Health, where he supports the planning and execution of high-profile sports and health equity events with partners including the NBA, WNBA, and NFL. In this role, he helps transform sporting platforms into catalysts for preventive health, community advocacy, and access to care.
Nationally, Nate serves as Ambassador and Co-Chair of the Patient Advisory Board for the Histiocytosis Association and the North American Consortium for Histiocytosis. He is also a member of the Rare Disease Diversity Coalition and works with the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases on state and federal policy. An accomplished speaker and the 2024 RareVoice Awards co-emcee, Nate continues to redefine intersectional advocacy by building spaces where every patient’s story is valued.
