Nick Lyon was appointed Interim Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services (MDHS) on January 1, 2015.  Lyon was appointed Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) on Sept. 15, 2014 by Gov. Rick Snyder, after serving as Chief Deputy Director of MDCH since 2011. During his time at MDCH, Lyon has been involved in a number of key health initiatives including the successful implementation and management of the Healthy Michigan Plan, as well as the advancement of Health Information Technology in the state of Michigan.

Through his previous experience, Lyon has a distinguished track record of success overseeing and crafting health policy and operations, finance and human resources, and budget development. He previously served as Deputy Director within the MDCH Operations and Health Policy and Regulation Administrations. Prior to his time at MDCH, Nick worked in the Office of Budget Development and General Government within the State Budget Office, as well as the Department of Attorney General.

Lyon is a 1990 graduate of Yale University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science.
