Dr. Shakima “Kima” Tozay is a lived experience practitioner-scholar-advocate with deep expertise in maternal health equity, implementation science, and systems change. A Navy veteran and clinically licensed social worker in Washington State, she specializes in primary care, military health systems, and leadership. Kima earned her Doctorate in Social Work: Organizational Leadership from the University of Alabama, where she also serves as adjunct faculty. As a Certified Patient Family Partner, Board-Certified Case Manager, and member of the Washington Maternal Mortality Review Panel, she integrates survivor wisdom with evidence-based practice to advance health equity and continuous improvement. She served on the Preeclampsia Foundation’s Patient Advisory Council and is a former Take 10 Ambassador. A prolific writer and thought leader, Kima has contributed bilingual essays and OpEds to The Preeclampsia Foundation, PSI, Perinatal Support WA, Return to Zero: HOPE, and The New Social Worker Magazine, elevating survivor stories as tools for healing and change.
