Susan M. Fleurant is a candidate for Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, Susan plans to practice as a medical-legal partnership attorney integrating civil legal services into health care settings. She believes that access to justice is a health equity issue and one of the many social determinants of health. Susan was formerly a law clerk at the Minnesota Disability Law Center and currently works with the Network for Public Health Law. This summer she will work at the Legal Services of South Central Michigan Medical-Legal Partnership. She is committed to improving interdisciplinary cooperation to both serve the needs of vulnerable patients and include their voices when designing systemic reforms. Susan grew up in Chugiak, Alaska and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Sociology from Colby College in Maine.
