Dr. Tamkeen Khan is Director of Economics at the American Medical Association. Dr. Khan's research focuses on chronic disease prevention, with interests related to the economics of cardiovascular disease including hypertension, diabetes, obesity and tobacco control. She works with a team providing statistical and analytical support for the AMA quality improvement program’s evidence base, evaluation, and potential health care cost savings and return on investment estimations. She has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and currently serves as the President-Elect of the Illinois Economics Association.
Dr. Khan holds PhD in Economics (specializing in Health and Labor) and a Certificate in the Teaching of Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, the same university where she received her MA in Economics and a BS in Finance and Economics.
