Dr. Tamkeen Khan is Director of Economics at the American Medical Association’s Center for Optimal Health Outcomes, where she advances efforts to eliminate health disparities and improve health outcomes through rigorous scientific research and data-driven insights. She leads the translation of advanced economic modeling into actionable strategies for senior leadership and health systems. Her work strengthens the evidence base for AMA initiatives by measuring program effectiveness, estimating health benefits and cost implications, evaluating ROI, and informing strategies for program scale and improvement. She has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and currently serves as President of the Illinois Economics Association.
Dr. Khan holds a PhD in Economics, with specializations in Health and Labor Economics, and a Certificate in the Teaching of Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also earned an MA in Economics and a BS in Finance and Economics.
