PHILADELPHIA and WASHINGTON, D.C., December 15, 2022  – Lauren Taylor, MDiv, MPH, PhD, has been selected to serve as a Scholar-in-Residence for the recently created Research Community on Trust.

Through  a collaboration between the ABIM Foundation and AcademyHealth, the Research Community is exploring various dimensions of trust, including clinician trust in their organizations, with the goal of creating best practices for  promoting trust.

Dr. Taylor joins Jodyn Platt, MPH, PhD, who has been a Scholar-in-Residence since the launch of the Research Community in spring 2022. As Scholars-in-Residence, Dr. Taylor and Dr. Platt will advise on the project’s direction, raise the visibility of the trust agenda, write on emerging issues in trust and health care, and lead engagement activities with members of the Research Community.

An assistant professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Dr. Taylor studies governance and management of health improvement efforts within the United States and abroad. She has taught on global health ethics and written on the institutionalization of global health and the responsibilities of health systems to address social determinants of health.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Jodyn in the Scholar-in-Residence role and look forward to building a national network of researchers and practitioners who are committed to creating health care experiences worthy of the public’s trust,” said Dr. Taylor.

“We know that health outcomes are influenced by much more than what happens inside hospitals and clinics,” said Lisa Simpson, M.B., B.Ch., M.P.H., FAAP, president and CEO at AcademyHealth. “Dr. Taylor brings important expertise in social determinants of health, which must be centrally considered if we truly want to build trust in health care organizations by communities and patients.”

“We’re honored that Dr. Taylor has agreed to join Dr. Platt to guide our efforts to advance trust research,” said Daniel Wolfson, MHSA, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the ABIM Foundation. “Her role is crucial in determining which strategies are effective in building trust among various health care stakeholders and we look forward to working with her.”
