Christine Kovner is the Mathy Mezey Professor of Geriatric Nursing and is a public health nurse by training and experience. She has been an educator at the Rory Meyers College of Nursing, New York University for over 30 years. Dr. Kovner is on the leadership committees of NYU’s NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI). She co-directed the KL2 program for 5 years and now is the Principal Investigator of the NIH funded TL1 pre- and post-doctoral program (similar to T-32). In addition to teaching the seminar for the scholars, she advises/mentors them to help them become independent researchers. As an experienced health services researcher, she has content expertise in the nursing work environment and nurse outcomes.
She also has methods expertise in survey research, psychometrics, and multivariate analysis. With externally funded grants in those areas she has included junior faculty as co-investigators and Ph.D. students as research assistants. From the work on these grants she has co-authored many papers with junior faculty and students, often having the junior faculty member being the first author. She is the co-author of Financial Management for Nurse Managers and Executives (now in its 5th edition).
Dr. Kovner’s is a Senior Faculty Associate at the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing. Additionally, Dr. Kovner has a faculty appointment as a Professor of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine and is an affiliated faculty member of the recently created NYU College of Global Public Health.
