Heather Brom, PhD, RN, NP-C is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR) at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her clinical training was as a family nurse practitioner (NP) and she has over 10 years of clinical, administrative, and educator experience in oncology. Heather’s postdoctoral fellow has allowed her to begin developing a foundation in health services methodologies through work with multiple large datasets including administrative claims, clinical registries and electronic health records. Her work examines nursing’s association with a variety of patient outcomes. Collaborating with her faculty mentors at CHOPR, she has had the opportunity to examine outcomes of nursing and NP care across hospital and ambulatory settings. She plans to focus her program of research on nursing’s contrition to quality and safety of care of vulnerable and complex patients.
