Heather Brom, PhD, RN, is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. She also serves as Director of Data Analytics & Operations for Thrive, an equity-focused, evidence-based transitional care program that supports Medicaid-insured individuals and those dually enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid transitioning from hospital to home. As a health services researcher, Dr. Brom is focused on improving health outcomes for individuals with complex medical and social needs through two primary approaches: (1) examining how organizational factors and policies impacting nurses and nurse practitioners influence care outcomes, and (2) collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement multi-level, data-driven solutions that advance health equity. Her research employs mixed methodologies drawing from large-scale surveys, interviews, electronic health records, clinical registry data, hospital discharge files, and ambulatory claims data.
